Sonia and Srini's wedding at the Sri Venkateswara Swami (Balaji) Temple was like so many that we photographed in 2020 & 2021, and yet it was also so incredibly unique. Their wedding took place in the turbulent spring of 2021. Just when we thought things were getting better from COVID-19, another wave would hit. Because of this Sonia and Srini opted to celebrate their traditional Indian wedding with micro-wedding outdoors.

They didn't let the circumstances hold them back from having an absolutely beautiful celebration though. The day began at 6am with the family arriving to set up the decorations and prepare for all of the incredible traditions that an Indian wedding offers. Once the setup was complete, the first wave of food began. If you know anything about an Indian wedding, you'll know that eating is central and the food can't be beat. I was the lucky beneficiary of this fact throughout the day and I'm just going to say, it was some of the best food I've ever had at a wedding.

Once the ceremony began, the spectacle enraptured everyone in attendance and filled the tent with laughter, tears, joy, and wonder. The songs and chants gave life to the moment and the energy of the family and the couple were palpable. It was truly a beautiful celebration of their love for one another and their family. It was an honor to have been a part of this special day.

Thank you Sonia and Srini for trusting me to capture your day.
