Every once in a while, we get a wedding that reminds us of our own. Ellie and Kati's Lily Pond Wedding in Chicago was just that, it was simple, intimate and full of the very best things - love, laughter and friendship.
The day started at their condo, which was surprisingly close to our home in Lincoln Square. We actually didn't realize until a few days ahead of time that they were just down the street from us. Elli and Kati got ready together (which we highly recommend) and then had a little first look with their friends. From there we headed to Lincoln Park and the Lily Pond, where they exchanged letters and had a beautiful standing ceremony officiated by a dear friend and family member. After that, we had about two awesome hours to take photos. We walked to South Pond in Lincoln Park and took group and family photos and then just the three of us (Larissa was the solo photographer here) plus a friend headed out for some sunset portraits. When we were walking back to the car, by pure chance we ran into the Rainbow Cone ice cream truck and, of course, had to get some in honor of the day. After that, we grabbed some coffee and headed to Cultivate, Forbidden Root in Ravenswood, for dinner. There were only their closet friends and family in attendance and you could actually feel the love in the room. It was so beautiful. Ellie and Kati are absolutely wonderful humans and we loved every single second of this wedding. Below are a few highlights of the day. Enjoy!
